SDDS Plus

Banco de Portugal, Statistics Portugal, the Ministry of Finance and Euronext Lisboa report a set of standardised statistical indicators on the Portuguese economy to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the SDDS Plus, the IMF’s most demanding statistical communication system.

The SDDS (Special Data Dissemination Standard) Plus was created by the IMF to strengthen the transparency, integrity, relevance and quality of statistical information.

Data provided by Portugal to the IMF include indicators on the real, fiscal, financial, and external sectors, as well as socio-demographic data.

Portugal is a pioneer

The SDDS Plus substitutes the SDDS and is the most demanding data dissemination standard defined by the IMF. Portugal is one of the nine countries that joined at its inception, on 18 November 2014.

In February 2015, Portugal became part of a restricted group of eight countries that comply with this new standard and is the only one that fully complied, from the start, with the nine categories required by the IMF to disclose statistical data in the SDDS Plus.

For the requirements and the countries that are part of the SDDS Plus, see the IMF's website.
