The public finances include statistics about revenue and expenditure of General government - balance, public debt and deficit-debt adjustment, as a percentage of GDP, comparing Portugal and Euro area figures.

The general government debt reflects the level of indebtedness of the general government, comprising its responsibilities vis-à-vis the other resident sectors of the economy and the rest of the world. The general government financing reflects liabilities in securities and loans deducted from the variation of deposits and securities applications, excluding transactions in shares issued by residents other than banks, and trade credits granted by residents.

The statistics of the balance of payments reflect the economic transactions occurred between residents and non-residents for a certain period of time and comprise transactions on goods, services, income, unrequited transfers and financial operations.

A.18 - International investment position

 

International investment position (IIP) translates the value and composition of both the financial assets and liabilities of the resident economy vis-à-vis the rest of the world in a moment in a time. This statistics also allows to compile external debt.

The statistics of central balance-sheet database corporations comprise a set of indicators about the non-financial corporations sector and economic and financial ratios.

A.20 - Non-financial sector indebtedness

 

Non-financial sector indebtedness comprises end-of-period positions of non-financial corporations, general government, households and non-profit institutions serving households, relating to liabilities in the form of loans, debt securities and trade credits, from a non-consolidated perspective; for example, including transactions between entities in the same institutional sector.

The economic and financial indicators of the private non-financial corporations comprise a set of annual indicators and ratios that allow for the analysis of the economic and financial situation of non-financial corporations.

This information will be discontinued with the migration of Statistical Bulletin to BPstat.

The investment funds include assets and liabilities of investment funds resident in Portugal and Euro Area.
