Law No 67/98 of 26 October 1998 (in Portuguese only) – Transposes into Portuguese law Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data. 

 

Decree-Law No 18/2007 of 22 January 2007 (in Portuguese only) – Establishes the value date of any credit and debit entries in deposit demand accounts and the corresponding effect on the date on which funds become available to the beneficiary.

 

Decree-Law No 454/91 of 28 December 1991 (in Portuguese only) – Establishes the legal framework governing unfunded cheques (as amended by Decree-Law No 316/97 of 19 November 1997, Decree-Law No 323/2001 of 17 December 2001, Decree-Law No 83/2003 of 24 April 2003, Law No 48/2005 of 29 August 2005 and Law No 66/2015 of 6 July 2015).

 

Decree-Law No 23 721 of 29 March 1934 (in Portuguese only) – Approves various laws, including the Uniform Law on Cheques, approved by the charter of 10 May 1934.

 

Notice of Banco de Portugal No 5/2013 of 18 December 2013, amended and republished by Notice of Banco de Portugal No 1/2014 of 28 February 2014 (in Portuguese only) – regulates the conditions, mechanisms and procedures required for effective compliance with the anti-money laundering and terrorist financing obligations established in Chapter II of Law No 25/2008 of 5 June 2008, within the scope of the provision of financial services subject to supervision by Banco de Portugal.

 

Notice of Banco de Portugal No 8/2009 of 12 October 2009 (in Portuguese only) – Lays down the minimum information requirements that must be complied with in the disclosure of the general conditions of priced financial products and services made available to the public by credit institutions and financial companies having their head office or a branch in Portuguese territory. Repeals Notice of Banco de Portugal No 1/95 of 17 February 1995.

 

Notice of Banco de Portugal No 1741-C/98 (Series II) of 4 February 1998 (in Portuguese only) – Following the amendments to the legal framework governing unfunded cheques (Decree-Law No 454/91 of 28 December 1991) introduced by Decree-Law No 316/97 of 19 November 1997, establishes a set of rules on the circulation of cheques, imposing more restrictions on the supply of cheque books and requiring that any entity that has been the object of a notice of termination of the cheque convention shall be included in the List of Cheque Defaulters.
