The Banco de Portugal publishes a wide range of economic and financial information on corporations in Portugal. 

In addition to the statistical information released in BPstat, the Bank provides two tools to help you better understand how your corporation is performing: 

• The Sector Tables, available to the general public;
• And the Enterprise and Sector Tables, available to corporations upon authentication.

Sector Tables

Anyone can view economic and financial indicators online for corporations in Portugal.

This information is provided in the Sector Tables. In these tables, you can take an interactive look into a set of economic and financial indicators for the various sectors of economic activity. Indicators are available since 2006 and are updated annually.

It’s easy to get information!

Access the Sector Tables and select the year you want to consult information for, the sector of economic activity and, in size class, choose whether to obtain data for all enterprises or for a specific size class. Then click on “update”.

In the panels on the left-hand side of the screen, explore the various indicators, which are grouped into topics: activity and profitability, liquidity and cash, cash flows, sources of financing, risk, balance sheet (structure), regional comparison and international comparison, among others. 

At the end, you can download a PDF report or export the data to an Excel file. The report has a broader set of indicators than that presented in the panels, for a five-year period, and the Excel file provides additional information.

Enterprise and Sector Tables

If you are an entrepreneur, you can view the Enterprise and Sector Tables relevant to your corporation on the Banco de Portugal’s website. 

Through the Enterprise and Sector Tables, you can compare your corporation’s economic and financial indicators with those of the sector of activity it belongs to and with those of other sectors of activity and size classes. 

It’s easy to get information

To view the Enterprise and Sector Tables, log into the Corporate area of the Banco de Portugal’s website using the same authentication credentials used to access the Tax and Customs Authority’s website.

Once you’ve logged in, access the Enterprise and Sector Tables and choose the year you want to consult the information for.

The sector of economic activity presented is that of the corporation under review, but you can select other sectors of activity. You can also get data for all enterprises or for a specific size class. Then click on “update”.

Explore the various indicators in the panels on the left-hand side of the screen, which are grouped into topics such as: positioning of the corporation, activity and profitability, liquidity and cash, cash flows, sources of financing, risk, balance sheet (structure), regional comparison and international comparison. 

In the ‘positioning of the corporation’ panel, you can see how your corporation compares to other corporations in the same sector for each of the economic and financial indicators presented.

When you finish, you can download a PDF report or export the data to an Excel file. The report presents a broader set of indicators for a five-year period than those presented in the panels, and the Excel file provides additional information, including information on the selected corporation, sector and size class.
