Banco de Portugal is part of the European Committee of Central Balance-Sheet Data Offices (ECCBSO).

The European Committee of Central Balance Sheet Data Offices consists of experts from the national central banks and from national statistical institutes of 27 European countries.

The Committee promotes the use of non-financial corporations’ data to accomplish central banks’ functions in such fields as statistics, economic and financial research, financial stability, supervision, and risk assessment.

The Committee manages BACH – Bank for the Accounts of Companies Harmonized, a database that is free of charge and contains harmonised annual accounting information on European non-financial corporations.

The Head of Banco de Portugal’s Statistics Department, João Cadete de Matos, chaired the European Committee of Central Balance Sheet Data Offices from October 2013 to October 2016.
