Portuguese exporters have been recording important market share gains in external markets over the last decade. These gains were widespread across goods and services, being worth mentioning the market share gains in tourism. 

In 2018, tourism exports maintained a favorable performance, growing more than the external demand for this type of services. However, the market share gain was smaller than those recorded in the two previous years. In 2018, tourism market share gains were narrower in geographical terms but remained significant in markets like the United Kingdom, Germany, the US and Brazil.
