20th Lisbon meeting with the central bank delegations of Portuguese-speaking countries to the IMF/WB Annual Meetings

The 20th Lisbon meeting will be held on 4 October 2010. Its programme may be found below. 

This Meeting is annually organised by Banco de Portugal. The Central Bank Governors of Portuguese-speaking countries take this opportunity to discuss the main items in the agenda of the International Monetary Fund/World Bank Annual Meetings and other topics of common interest, namely cooperation activities.

The Governor of Banco de Portugal, Mr. Carlos da Silva Costa, will deliver the welcoming speech in the public opening session at Centro Cultural de Belém.

After a multimedia presentation on most significant recent economic developments in the PALOPs, Brazil, Portugal and Timor-Leste, the Governor of Banco de Portugal will deliver an address on the challenges faced by the Portuguese economy.

Professor Plutarchos Sakellaris, the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank, will present the main subject of the Meeting: “Development funding instruments of the European Investment Bank in the framework of the Cotonou Convention”.  This subject will be discussed at a round-table with the participation of Central Bank Governors.

The session will be closed by the Portuguese Minister of State and Finance.

The publication "Economic Trends of Portuguese-speaking African Countries and Timor-Leste – 2009/2010" issued by Banco de Portugal, will be distributed at the beginning of the session.

9:30 a.m. - Opening of the 20th Lisbon Meeting by the Governor of Banco de Portugal

9:35 a.m.-  Multimedia presentation on most significant recent economic developments in the PALOPs, Brazil, Portugal and Timor-Leste

9:50 a.m. – Address by the Governor of Banco de Portugal on the challenges faced by the Portuguese economy

10:15 a.m. - Coffee break

11:00 a.m. - Development funding instruments of the European Investment Bank in the framework of the Cotonou Convention - Professor Plutarchos Sakellaris, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank 

        Round-table with the participation of all Central Bank Governors

12:30 a.m.- Closure of the session by the Portuguese Minister of State and Finance

13:00 a.m. - Lunch offered to all participants at Vitorino Nemésio Room
