Statistical Press Release – Public debt - March 2019

Today, Banco de Portugal publishes statistics, in Table A.15 of the Statistical Bulletin and in BPstat, on public debt for March of 2019.
In March 2019, public debt stood at €250.4 billion (Chart 1), a €1.1 billion increase from the end of February. This was mainly driven by an increase in debt securities (Chart 2).
General government deposits rose by €1.2 billion, with public debt net of deposits decreasing by €0.1 billion from the previous month, to a total of €227.7 billion.
