Statistical Press Release – Public debt - February 2019

Today, Banco de Portugal publishes statistics, in Table A.15 of the Statistical Bulletin and in BPstat, on public debt for February of 2019.
In February 2019, public debt stood at €249.3 billion (Chart 1), increasing by €1.2 billion from the end of January. This was mainly driven by an increase in debt securities issued (Chart 2).
General government deposits rose by €1.0 billion, with public debt net of deposits increasing by €0.2 billion from the previous month, to a total of €227.7 billion.
