Statistical Press Release – General government financing - October 2018

Today, Banco de Portugal publishes statistics, in Table A.15 of the Statistical Bulletin and in BPstat, on general government financing for October 2018.
Between January and October 2018, general government financing stood at €1.3 billion, compared to €5.8 billion in the corresponding period in 2017 (Chart 1).
Between January and October, financing obtained by the general government was chiefly from residents (except banks), to the amount of €2.2 billion. Conversely, financing obtained by the general government from resident banks amounted to €-0.8 billion (Chart 2).
Financing through securities amounted to €8.1 billion, which more than offset the €6.7 billion reduction in financing through loans net of deposits.
