Statistical Press Release – General government financing – May 2019
In the first five months of 2019, general government financing stood at €1.5 billion, lower than €3.2 billion in the corresponding period of 2018 (Chart 1).
Since the beginning of the year, general government has obtained financing abroad and from residents (except for banks) to the amount of €4.1 billion and €0.5 billion respectively (Chart 2). Conversely, financing obtained by general government from resident banks amounted to -€3.1 billion.
Financing through securities amounted to €7.7 billion, which more than offset financing through loans net of deposits (-€6.3 billion).
