Statistical Press Release – General government financing - March 2020

Today, Banco de Portugal publishes statistics, in Table A.15 of the Statistical Bulletin and in BPstat, on general government financing for March 2020.
In March, general government financing stood at €55 million, compared to €-877 million in the corresponding period in 2019 (Chart 1).
Financing obtained by the general government from abroad stood at €4.4 billion. Conversely, financing obtained by the general government from resident banks and from others residents amounted to €-3.6 billion and €-0.7 billion, respectively (Chart 2).
Financing through securities amounted to €5.9 billion, offset by the €-5.8 billion reduction in loans net of deposits.
