Statistical Press Release – General government financing – January 2021

Today, Banco de Portugal publishes statistics in BPstat on general government financing for January 2021.
In January 2021, general government financing stood at €0.4 billion, compared to €-0.4 billion million in 2020 (Chart 1).
Financing obtained by the general government from resident banks and from abroad amounted to €0.2 billion and €1.1 billion, respectively. Conversely, financing obtained by the general government from other residents stood at €-0.9 billion (Chart 2).
Financing through loans net of deposits amounted to €0.4 billion, offset by the €-0.1 billion reduction in securities.
