Statistical Press Release – General government financing - February 2019

Today, Banco de Portugal publishes statistics, in Table A.15 of the Statistical Bulletin and in BPstat, on general government financing for February 2019.
In the first two months of 2019, general government financing stood at -€0.6 billion, lower than €0.2 billion in the corresponding period in 2018 (Chart 1).
Since the beginning of the year, financing obtained by the general government abroad amounted to €2.1 billion (Chart 2), which was more than offset by a decrease of €2.9 billion in net financing obtained from resident banks.
Financing through loans net of deposits amounted to -€4.6 billion, which offset financing through securities to the amount of €4.0 billion.
