Statistical Press Release - General government financing - August 2018
Today, Banco de Portugal publishes statistics, in Table A.15 of the Statistical Bulletin and in BPstat, on general government financing for August 2018.
Between January and August 2018, general government financing stood at €1.9 billion, compared to €5.5 billion in the corresponding period in 2017 (Chart 1).
Financing obtained by the general government was chiefly from banks and other residents, to the amount of €0.7 billion and €1.7 billion respectively. Conversely, during this period, financing obtained by the general government from abroad totalled -€0.5 billion (Chart 2).
Financing through securities stood at €6.9 billion, which more than offset the reduction of €5.1 billion in financing through loans net of deposits.
