Statistical Press Release – Banking loans and deposits – July 2020
In July 2020 loans granted by banks to non-financial corporations posted an annual rate of change (a.r.) of 7.2%, a 1.6 p.p. increase from the previous month (Chart 1). The increase was broadly based across all enterprise size classes, most notably micro-enterprises, whose a.r. rose by 2.8 p.p., to stand at 13.6%.
The a.r. on loans to households for house purchase stood at 1.8%, a 0.3 p.p. increase from June (Chart 2). Loans to households for consumption posted an a.r. of 3.8 %, 0.4 p.p. less than in the previous month (Chart 2).
Household deposits with resident banks totalled €159.2 billion at the end of July. The a.r. stood at 6.7%, a 0.5 p.p. increase from June (Chart 3).
