Press Release of Banco de Portugal on the new members of the Board of Auditors
The following members were appointed to the Board of Auditors of Banco de Portugal:
- João Costa Pinto (Chair);
- Ana Paula Serra (Member);
- António Gonçalves Monteiro (Member, in the capacity of Statutory Auditor).
João Costa Pinto has been Vice-Governor, Member of the Board of Directors and Head of the Foreign Department of Banco de Portugal, a consultant with the World Bank, Chair of Banco Nacional Ultramarino and Banco Comércio e Indústria and Executive Chair of Grupo Crédito Agrícola.
Ana Paula Serra is Vice-Dean of Porto Business School and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics of Universidade do Porto.
António Gonçalves Monteiro is Chair of Comissão de Normalização Contabilística (the Accounting Standardisation Committee), Country Managing Partner of Moore Stephens and Chair of the Supervisory Board of several companies, including Teixeira Duarte, S.A., ESTAMO, SAGESTAMO and Açoreana Seguros. He was President of the Portuguese Statutory Auditors from 2006 to 2011.
The Board of Auditors of Banco de Portugal comprises three members appointed by the Minister of Finance: a Chair, with the casting vote, a Statutory Auditor and an individual of recognised competence in economics.
Among other duties, the Board of Auditors is responsible for overseeing the operation of Banco de Portugal and ensuring that it complies with the laws and regulations governing the institution.
