National Council of Financial Supervisors promotes the 2019 Financial Literacy Week from 28 to 31 October in Bragança
The National Council of Financial Supervisors and its partners in the National Plan for Financial Education (will celebrate, from 28 to 31 October, the Financial Literacy Week 2019, under the motto ‘Na Formação Financeira Todos Contam’ (Everybody Counts in Financial Literacy), which will take place in Bragança and in other municipalities in the Intermunicipal Community of Terras de Trás-os-Montes.
In the course of that week, financial supervisors will take initiatives to make the population aware of the importance of financial literacy, aimed at various target groups: students, teachers and other trainers, professional football players and former players, the elderly and social workers.
On 28 October, when the Financial Literacy Week will be launched, Banco de Portugal, the Portuguese Securities Market Commission and the Autoridade de Supervisão de Seguros e Fundos de Pensões (ASF, the national supervisory authority for insurance and pension funds), together with the Ministry of Education and other partners in the Plan will run activities aimed at schools. In Escola Secundária Emídio Garcia, in Bragança, a formal session attended by the National Council of Financial Supervisors will be held to announce the winners of the 8th Todos Contam competition. In this year’s edition, for the first time a prize will be awarded to the teacher that stood out the most in the implementation of financial education projects. Throughout the day, several thematic workshops on financial literacy will be held in the school, in which students across all school years will have the opportunity to acquire financial knowledge, with the help of games and recreational activities.
Still on 28 October, the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional – IEFP) will also organise in Bragança a session to disseminate and take stock of the train-the-trainer programme, carried out together with financial supervisors.
On 29 October the Portuguese Union of Professional Football Players (SJPF) will hold a session, with the support of the three regulators, to present and discuss the results of the survey on the financial literacy of football players, which was conducted in the first half of the year.
On 30 and 31 October municipalities in the Intermunicipal Community of Terras de Trás-os-Montes will join the Financial Literacy Week for the first time, and carry out several awareness-raising sessions to promote financial literacy among population in the region. Several municipalities in the Intermunicipal Communities of Tâmega e Sousa and Alto Tâmega will also carry out awareness-raising initiatives targeting different groups from 21 to 25 October.
