Expiry of the time limit for exchanging escudo banknotes
On 1 January 2018, the time limit for exchanging five escudo banknotes (listed below) will expire.
These banknotes may be exchanged for euro at Banco de Portugal’s cash offices until 29 December 2017 (the last business day before the expiry date).

Escudo banknotes may be exchanged at Banco de Portugal’s cash offices within 20 (twenty) years of the withdrawal from circulation of the respective plate.
