Commemorative coin – 250th Anniversary of the Official Printing Office
Banco de Portugal will put a commemorative coin into circulation from 22 May 2018, with face value of 2 euro, called ‘250th Anniversary of the Official Printing Office’.
The coin will be distributed to the public through credit institutions and Banco de Portugal’s cash offices.

The ‘250th Anniversary of the Official Printing Office’ coin has the following features:
On the common side:
- the European design used on euro coins in circulation.
On the national side, surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union, the following features:
- the date commemorated ‘1768-2018’;
- the words ‘Imprensa Nacional’, ‘Duzentos e Cinquenta’, ‘250 Anos’, ‘Portugal’ and ‘MMXVIII’;
- around the lower edge, the name of the author and the abbreviation ‘INCM’.
The characteristics of this coin were approved by Executive Order No 69/2018, published in the Official Gazette, Series I – No 48 of 8 March. The issue limit was set at 500,000 coins with normal finish.
Note:
Banco de Portugal sells commemorative coins to the public exclusively through its cash offices (normal finish only).
Those interested in obtaining these coins should fill out the form provided giving the name, face value and number of commemorative coins desired.
Banco de Portugal does not reserve coins nor send them by post.
