Central Balance-Sheet Studies

The issue of the CBSD Studies began in November 2010 and aims to disseminate the work and analysis performed on data from the Central Balance-Sheet Database of Banco de Portugal.

Sectoral analysis of non-financial corporations in Portugal 2010_2011
This publication examines the economic and financial situation of non-financial corporations in Portugal, based on information compiled by the Central Balance-Sheet Database of Banco de Portugal. This analysis focuses chiefly on 2010, for which there are detailed data on most enterprises in the sector, complemented with information already available relating to 2011.
 
New enterprise and sector tables
This publication provides relevant methodological information on companies’ data from the Central Balance Sheet Database released since 2010 through the Enterprise and Sector Tables. These tables were redesigned mainly aimed to accommodate changes arising from the introduction of new accounting standards in 2010, as well as to incorporate a number of changes requested by companies and users over the responses to an opinion survey launched with the disclosure of the Enterprise and Sector Tables of 2009.

This publication examines the economic and financial situation of enterprises in the Accommodation and Food Service Activities sector, based on information compiled by the Central Balance-Sheet Database of Banco de Portugal. This analysis focuses chiefly on the 2006-2009 period, for which there are detailed data on most enterprises in the sector. Furthermore, this Study includes some additional details for the year 2010 and the first half of 2011 as regards banking loans, drawn from the Central Credit Register.

Sectoral analysis of manufacture of food products
This publication examines the economic and financial situation of enterprises in the Accommodation and food service activities sector, based on information compiled by the Central Balance-Sheet Database of Banco de Portugal. This analysis focuses chiefly on the 2006-2009 period, for which there are detailed data on most enterprises in the sector. Furthermore, this Study includes some additional details for the year 2010 and the first half of 2011 as regards banking loans, drawn from the Central Credit Register and Securities Statistics Integrated System.

Furthermore, this Study includes some additional details for the year 2010 as regards banking loans, drawn from the Central Credit Register, and securities other than shares, drawn from Securities Statistics Integrated System.
Structure and dynamics of non-financial corporations in Portugal
This publication presents a characterization of the universe of non-financial corporations in 2009 and analyzes its business dynamics in the period 1991-2009. The dynamic analysis includes the identification of High-Growth Enterprises and the so-called Gazelles, the sector´s turbulence and non-financial corporations survival ability. The characterisation of this population allows indicators published by the CBSD to be better incorporated into the reality of the Portuguese businesses.
