This publication presents a characterization of the universe of non-financial corporations in 2009 and analyzes its business dynamics in the period 1991-2009. The dynamic analysis includes the identification of High-Growth Enterprises and the so-called Gazelles, the sector´s turbulence and non-financial corporations survival ability. The characterisation of this population allows indicators published by the CBSD to be better incorporated into the reality of the Portuguese businesses.

This publication provides relevant methodological information on Enterprise and Sector tables that is essential for better understanding and use of that data.
