Library of the Banco de Portugal

The Library of the Banco de Portugal was created in 1932, and is geared mainly towards offering support for academic and professional research. Its collection contains approximately 50,000 monographs and 1,400 titles of current periodical publications, specialising in:
· Portuguese Economy
· International Economy
· Monetary and Financial Economics
· Mathematics and Statistics
· Economic History
· Monetary Policy
· Economic and Financial Law
The Library has a Reading Room open to the public for consultation of Banco de Portugal collections. Furthermore, it offers access to a wide range of electronic resources, among on-line databases and periodicals. The library also has specialised documentalists to assist with research in the areas of Economics and Law.
The Library catalogue database is available for Internet consultation by means of catalogue research, including bibliographical and monographic references, work documents, articles, periodicals and legislation which are updated on a daily basis.
At the disposal of its visitors the Library also has an extensive collection of International Organisation publications, primarily from the European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund and OECD.
Banco de Portugal is also in possession of a number of special collections, among which the Antique Book collection may be found, along with a considerable number of Annual Financial Statements from a variety of companies.
The Library also provides access to the legal acts produced by the Bank in its regulatory capacity, through the Instructions System of the Banco de Portugal (SIBAP), namely Notices (published in Diário da República, the Official Gazette of Portugal) and Instructions (published in the Official Bulletin of Banco de Portugal) and respective updated full texts.
