Banco de Portugal holds an important collection of antique books, printed in Portugal and abroad between the 15th and the 18th centuries, of which the Law and Banking Activity collection is of outstanding historical value. In addition, the library houses a collection of printed books from the 19th century. These collections are available for consultation. Interested parties are advised to request access beforehand. Another noteworthy collection is comprised of Reports and Accounts of national and foreign companies from the 19th century to present day, which are an important source of research material on the economic history of Portugal, in particular its entrepreneurial fabric. Given the significant number of reference material, these documents may be viewed online via the Library catalogue.
