Cooperation
Cooperation with other central banks is an important segment of the international activities in which Banco de Portugal is involved. Cooperation activities reflect the development needs and challenges of, the modernisation and consolidation of new areas and operating processes in the counterparty institutions. Cooperation operates mainly among the central banks and monetary authorities of Portugal, the Portuguese-speaking African Countries and Timor-Leste, also covering emerging economies and other low-income countries. There are four main types of cooperation activities: technical assistance, visits/training courses, courses/seminars and meetings/round tables.
In addition to cooperation activities, the Bank publishes annually a report entitled “Evolução das Economias dos PALOP e de Timor-Leste” (“Economic Trends of Portuguese-speaking African Countries and Timor-Leste”) which presents an analysis of the macroeconomic situation of these countries and an outline of their economic and financial relations with Portugal.
