The twenty-year period allowed for the exchange of banknotes of 100$00, Plate 8, with the effigy of Barbosa du Bocage, and 500$00, Plate 11, with the effigy of Francisco Sanches, ends on 31 May 2010. Note that escudo banknotes can be exchanged at Banco de Portugal for a period of twenty years after withdrawal from circulation of the respective series.
