Training in banknotes and coins

As monetary issuer and national fiduciary system regulator, Banco de Portugal takes responsibility for the dissemination of information regarding the characteristics and security features of cash and the means of checking the authenticity of banknotes and coins.

Such responsibility aims, above all, to promote the fight against counterfeiting, protecting citizens from a loss of value resulting from acceptance of a counterfeit banknote or coin, and encouraging the adoption of good practices in cash use.

To this effect, Banco de Portugal has devised a training program focusing on the needs of particular public/sectors.

Banco de Portugal also invests in the production and dissemination of information materials regarding cash and in the creation of electronic content to expand the public’s knowledge about money.
