Face-to-face training

Training courses on the euro banknote are provided face to face by Banco de Portugal to professional cash-handlers (of credit institutions and cash-in-transit companies), and are conducted across the Bank’s agency network in the mainland, the Regional Delegations and the Oporto branch. The Bank also provides training courses on metal coins to professional cash-handlers.

Other training programmes are available for specific publics: professional and secondary schools, retailers and traders, as well as other applicant professional groups.

Training courses are free of charge, and may be required to Banco de Portugal, to the National Counterfeit Centre – Carregado Complex, the body responsible for the management of the training programme on cash, either directly or though the Agencies, Regional Delegations or the Oporto Branch. The implementation of these programmes shall depend on the number of applications received (with the exception of courses held in schools).

Training for retailers, cashiers, etc.

Banknote

Banco de Portugal provides training for professional cashiers, traders, retailers, etc., on the euro banknote and on methods for checking its authenticity. These training courses have a duration of 3 hours and may be held in one of the Bank’s training centres or elsewhere.

Training for the public

Banco de Portugal provides banknote awareness-raising courses for members of the general public who wish to acquire knowledge about security features and authenticity checking. These courses have a duration of 3 hours and may be held in one of the Bank’s training centres or elsewhere.

Training for professional and secondary schools

Banco de Portugal offers courses on euro banknotes to professional and secondary schools with a duration of 2 hours. They may be held in one of the Bank’s training centres or on the premises of the applying school.

Training for professional cash handlers – credit institutions and cash-in-transit companies

Banknote or coin

Banco de Portugal provides training for professional cash handlers, such as credit institutions and cash-in-transit companies, on euro banknotes and/or coins.

This training enables the professional cash handlers to develop manual recycling activities. These initiatives must be agreed with the training managers of professional cash-handling entities.
