Legislation and regulations

In the exercise of its regulatory powers, the Banco de Portugal is entrusted with the issuing of Instructions, published in the Official Bulletin, and Notices, published in Diario da Republica.(1)
 
The Bank also issues Circular Letters which are non-regulatory guidelines aimed at the institutions subject to its supervision. Such regulations are available in full text – historical and consolidated versions – on the Banco de Portugal Instructions System database (SIBAP), which also permits the consultation of the Instruction Manual, containing all Instructions currently in force.
 
Other legal acts addressing matters related to the Banco de Portugal supervisory function, but not issued by the Bank itself, are also available in this database. The system provides a simultaneous full text research of the SIBAP regulatory acts and of the applicable legislation.
