Functionalities
All website pages have a navigation menu at the top with options to help users. In this menu, among other options, users may change the font size, view the page in another language (most pages are available in Portuguese and English), see the list of all website pages (for simplification purposes, this list only shows three page layers) and the search engine.
RSS (Rich Site Summary)
For some subjects, addresses may be configured in RSS displays to receive the respective feeds.
Search
All website pages have a search option in the right hand corner. Results shown are presented per domain. An advanced search is also possible, with more specific criteria on the type of information intended.
Links
In most pages links are presented in the right hand column:
- Links in the “Related information” section open pages of this website in the same window;
- Links in the “Related links” section open external website pages in a new window.
Internet connection
For clear and fast website visualisation, a broadband internet connection is recommended (ADSL, cable, 3G mobile), with over 512 Kbits.
Login
User authentication is possible. This functionality allows users to visualise a number of reserved areas on the website, upon prior authorisation of Banco de Portugal.
Access terms and conditions may be viewed on the respective subject areas.
Resolution
This website is optimised for a resolution of 1024x768 pixels, but can be adjusted according to the size of the browser window.
Browser compatibility and configuration
This website is compatible with the following browsers: Internet Explorer version 6, Opera version 7, Safari version 3 and Firefox version 2, or above. The browser to be used must allow for the use of Cascading Style Sheets and scripting languages (ECMAScript derivatives).
The website uses Microsoft .NET technology, and therefore the browser must permit the use of cookies, which are necessary for functionalities such as navigation and storing of session status.
To view certain document types, additional applications must be installed on the browser. The following document types are among those requiring specific applications:
- PDF format: displays may be found on Adobe’s website
- Office formats (DOC, XLS, CSV): displays may be found on the Microsoft or OpenOffice websites
- Macromedia Flash formats (SWF): displays may be found on Adobe’s website
