Public finance statistics

Banco de Portugal publishes data on public finance in its Statistical Bulletin and in BPStat, namely: General Government Financing, State and Social Security Revenue and Expenditure and Net lending/borrowing and Debt of General Government.

Data on General Government Financing are based on monthly statistical data collected by Banco de Portugal, namely monetary and financial statistics, balance of payments and international investment position statistics and securities statistics. Data on State and Social Security revenue and expenditure are compiled from the “Budget Implementation Summary Bulletin” of the Budget General Directorate. Data on Net lending/ borrowing and Debt of General Government are obtained from Excessive Deficits Procedure notifications.
