Exchange rate statistics

The exchange rate statistics are compiled by Banco de Portugal and cover the following main segments:

• Euro reference exchange rates
  On a daily basis – Euro reference rates, calculated and made available by the ECB and the euro exchange rates against Macau Pataca and Cape Verde Escudo, made available by Banco de Portugal.
  On a monthly basis (end-of-period) – Banco de Portugal calculates and publishes informative exchange rates of the euro against other currencies not included in the above-mentioned group.
  Special Drawing Rights (SDR) and gold bullion.
• Euro effective exchange rate indices.
• Effective exchange rate indices for Portugal.
• Effective exchange rate indices for euro area Member States. The corresponding historical series for the escudo are also available.
